Way To Protect Fiber Optic Splice Closure - Welding

Prepare the fiber:

Step 4: Protect the fiber

Typical fusion splices have a tensile strength of 0.5 to 1.5 pounds and are not susceptible to cracking during normal processing. However, it still needs to prevent excessive bending and pulling. Silicone and/or mechanical crimp protectors protect the joint from external components and breakage by using heat-shrink tubing
